Candle & Wax Melt Care
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience with your Kombuis Kriek products, please take a moment to read through these care and safety guidelines. Proper use will help extend the life of your candle or melt, protect your surfaces, and enhance the fragrance experience.
Glass Container Candle Care & Safety
Before Burning
Always place the glass candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface before lighting. Trim the wick to approximately 5 mm before every use to prevent soot, flickering, and high flames. Ensure the surface is clean and away from flammable materials like curtains, papers, or décor.
While Burning
Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the container during the first burn (usually 2–3 hours). This helps prevent tunneling. Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Always keep the candle within sight and away from pets, children, and drafts. Avoid moving the candle while the wax is melted.
After Burning
Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish. Let the wax solidify completely before relighting or moving the candle. Stop use when 1 cm of wax remains at the bottom— burning beyond this can cause the container to overheat or crack.
Extra Tip
Glass container candles may become hot during use. Always allow them to cool before touching or relocating.
Tin Candle Care & Safety
Before Burning
Place the tin candle on a heat-safe, stable surface. Tins can get warm or hot underneath during burning. Trim wick to 5 mm before each use. Avoid lighting near vents, open windows, or anything that may cause uneven burning.
While Burning
Allow the wax pool to reach the edge during the first burn to create a smooth, even surface. Burn for no more than 3–4 hours at a time to prevent overheating the tin. Never leave unattended or burn near children, pets, or flammable items.
After Burning
Let the wax cool and solidify before replacing the lid or moving the tin. If soot develops on the inside of the tin, trim the wick shorter or reduce burn time.
Storage Tip
Keep tins out of direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, as this may cause the wax to melt or discolor.
Wax Melts & Squeeze Melts Care & Safety
How to Use
Break or squeeze the desired amount of wax into the clean dish of a wax warmer (electric or tealight-based). Do not overfill the dish — melted wax volume increases and may overflow. Use only unscented tealight candles in tealight warmers. For squeeze melts, shake the bottle if needed and dispense gently into the burner dish.
While Melting
Never add water, oil, or other substances to the wax. Do not leave your warmer unattended. Keep away from children, pets, and anything flammable. Never move the burner while wax is hot or liquid.
Cleaning & Reuse
Allow wax to cool and solidify before removing.
To remove wax
For tealight warmers, light the tealight for a minute or two to slightly loosen the wax, then gently pop it out. For electric warmers, warm just enough to loosen the wax, then wipe clean with a paper towel. Do not pour melted wax down the sink or drain.
Safety Note
Use only approved warmers or burners and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. General Safety Reminders (for all products) Never leave any flame or hot wax unattended. Keep all candle and wax products out of reach of children and pets. Do not use on or near flammable or unstable surfaces. Always burn in a well-ventilated area, away from drafts. Discontinue use of any product if the vessel becomes damaged or wick shifts.
